Converting Files is simple using Google Doc

There are plenty of paid and free tools available to convert a specific file type to different format for e.g Converting document file from DOC To PDF File. There are also many conversion tools available online which will do the task online without downloading any software but there is always some risk of piracy of files. People generally struggle and search for tools to convert files. Why to struggle when the task can be achieved using Google doc.

Google Docs is a free, Web-based word processor, spreadsheet, presentation, form, and data storage service offered by Google. Google Doc is a online Office tool which is same as your word processor in your Pc. It allows users to create and edit documents online while collaborating in real-time with other users.

These are the file types that can be converted to Google Docs:

  • For spreadsheets: .xls, .xlsx, .ods, .csv, .tsv, .txt, .tab
  • For documents: .doc, .docx, .html, plain text (.txt), .rtf
  • For presentations: .ppt, .pps (.pptx and .ppsx is not supported)
  • For drawings: .wmf
  • For OCR: .jpg, .gif, .png, .pdf

Instructions:

1.) Open Google Doc, Sign in with Google Account ID

2.) Upload Document to Google Doc using file upload interface Or Create Document.
Note: There are some restriction on size of file to be uploaded

3.) Open the file and Go to File Menu => Download as => Choose the file type of the document to be download.

Note: While Uploading files of PDF or OCR format make sure you put a check mark on “Convert text from PDF or image files to Google Docs documents” so that it could be converted to Google doc.
